i work for a company which takes me to work in a mini bus, i travil to different places each time the traviling is unpaid. depending on how far i travil depends on what rate i get paid (either way it really crap money)
they have rotered me in to work in exeter next week which is 5 hours traviling for me there and 5 hours back my shif will be 10 hours so that will mean i am out of the house about 20 hours and only getting paid for 10 hours work the rate is only £9 more than if i was traviling for an hour.
when i told them i am not going to do that shift they got the **** with me and told me if i didnt do it then they wouldnt give me any more work
am i right to not go or should i go where do i stand?

I should think your company should be ashamed of themselves. How can they expect any one to travel all that time and not have enough time for sleep, rest or food, let alone any social live.
Afraid I have no knowledge of how the law stands, but I do know they cannot make you work more than 40hrs a week. Personally I would find another job and then tell them what they can do with their 10hours of travelling.

So they basically want you to be "on their time" for 20 hours and pay you for 10....no, no, no....that can't happen. Don't know what you will be paid but if you divide the amount you are paid per shift by 20, does it fall below the legal minimum hourly rate?...if it does, report them...this sort of abuse should not be allowed to happen. Besides any company worth anything at all would realise that their employee cannot possibly be effective on that sort of schedule...you would be open to accidents, misjudgements and errors...I wonder if they would be happy to help out in those circumstances, somehow I doubt it!!!! I would get away from this company as soon as possible and expose them!!! This breaks so many rules of employment.

QUIT THAT JOB NOW!!! THAT COMPANY DOES NOT GIVE A RATS A** ABOUT YOU. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE BOTTOM DOLLAR. THEY FEEL IF YOU WON't DO THE JOB THEY WILL HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT.
I'm in the same boat, sort of. The powers that be want us to do more and more for the same pay, which means, of course, I am now working for less per hour. Fifity hour work weeks and being paid for only forty and having them continue to gripe is getting very old.
So I say, SCREW YOUR BOSS/COMPANY. You have to look at the compensation and ask yourself in the end, is all the extra travel without being paid worth the effort? If it isn't you know the answer.

It depends what job you do, Personally i would say f*** off but if it is your contract with them there is nothing you can do except leave you job. You could ask that they put you in a hotel for the few days because of all the extra hours that you will "be Working" otherwise you will only have enought time to eat, shower, change and back to work again, They will prob save money by not having to hire someone to take you there

Depends what type of work it is...promotions?
Really, i dont see why they dont put you in a hotel, it would prob cost them the same, i mean there paying you an extra £90 right? (£9 an hour extra x 10 hours?) Or use that extra cash to find a cheap B&B
What job is it and do you have to be based somewhere in particular? (Im looking for work over the uk)

The company has made it pretty clear that they don' value you or your time. Looks like time to find a new position, but keep in mind that it's easier to find a job when you have a job (employers don't seem to like to hire unemployed people...boo), so don't quit before you have the new job.
