It's all about hormones. They affect moods and emotions. They also cause headaches, cramps and backaches. Then there's the cravings for salt and chocolate, which are not very good for us.

Loss of iron can trigger awful mood and emotional swings, and when we're menstrual we do lose a lot of iron in our bloodflow. Taking a good iron supplement and increasing it during your period does help a lot, how do I know? It works for me! :)

Be sure to excersize, sleep well and drink plenty of water. The menstral cycle can effect every woman differently. My biggest suggestion is to not make any life changing decisions durring your cycle.

For a women I don't know, but for me, it's because I stay home with my wife during that time!
