the basic rules to losing weight are no soda, no fast food, lots of chicken, fish, fresh (not canned that’s bad) fruits and vegies, whole wheat stuff, yogurt. Not so many cakes and donuts and cookies. Basic common sense for eating, you just need to enforce it. Get all the bad stuff out of the house right away, just toss it or give it away while your still motivated. No alcohol and no smoking if that applies. Some juice but make sure its all natural, because the ones that aren't are loaded with sugar and a leading cause in diabetes in children and adults. Lots of water, 3-4 liters a day, not all at once, but spread it out. Its really easy to down a liter or two while your watching tv or on the computer. Also drink some after you eat the bigger meals of the day, it helps your body pick out the nutrients in food when your food is more spread apart. You also need to stay away from any sports drinks unless you’ve just had a long workout and then you need to limit yourself. Most atheletes mix Gatorade with water because its two complex for your body to get all the nutrients out of. It needs to be diluted. These rules may be hard to adapt to at first so start with cutting out the things you know you can live without. Then work from there. Remember these are perfect eating habits, it can take you a while to work into it. If you know you can’t live without your one treat a day, don’t fight it by trying to eat something else, just eat it and make sure that’s the only one you cheat on a day. Otherwise you’ll get depressed and quit. Another important point is getting the right amount of sleep every night. You need 8-9 hours of sleep each night for your body to function correctly. This is an important factor of losing weight. Set up a routine for yourself and go to bed at about the same time each night.
As for exercise, lots of cardio. Find something you like. If you have never exercised much before, start with walking 30 minutes a day at a brisk pace. Move on to different terrains that include hills and increase the time spent. After a week or two, try jogging the route. No matter what find an activity you enjoy. Walking to jogging is just an example, try hiking, rollerblading, biking. Once you get into a regular routine, if your not happy with the level of difficulty, try signing up with a gym. Spinning, pilates or kickboxing classes are great. It will also introduce you to working with weights. Talk to a trainer for instruction before using any weights. A cheap investment is a balance ball, it works you stomach while your just sitting on it, like at your computer and its great for posture. There are hundreds of exercises you can use it for for your entire body. I can give you some ideas if you want, just email me. I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Firstly find out what is your healthy weight range, this will stop you becoming an unhealthy weight.
Eat less fat, try only eating products which are less that 5% fat, this will mean that you are only eating low fat foods, but you don't need to eat like a rabbit.
Eat more fruit and veg, this will help a lot as they fill you up but it's almost impossible for them to make you fat.
Do more exercise, - this bit is important. Not only will it speed up weight loss it will also stop you having any of that 'I used to be fat skin'
You could also try joining an weight loss organisation or club, they can cost a lot but they really can help.

First thing first, you must understand every human body is different. Thus, the way our body react to certain treatment is also different. On top of that, some are born fat, and need far more effort to maintain slim and others.

My advice is simple mathematical, input must equal to output, just to maintain balance. Whatever kal you take in must equal kal you give up. (not those kal that you gave up while you are at rest, what when you are at work).

Thus, how much food you take in, must equal to how much exercise you do in order to maintain equal. So, to lose weight, just do more exercise than you eat.

But never eat less than you actually need. Our body have a inbuild system that will store fat if you eat less. For they will think that it is famine.

Bottom line is, do exercise. Those lightweight with more raps. Good example will be, 30 min of jogging or swimming (not dipping in the pool). 1 hrs of fast walk.

Let your heart rate beat at between 65 to 75 %. (err, too long to explain here). It will slowly burns your fats.

Fast power exercise will burn suger in your body, which is what you eat in that day. Slow, long exercise is to burn fats, energy stored in your body.

Have fun exercise.

Exercise, particularly walking (preferably at least 1/2 hour at a time, at least 4 or 5 days a week). Drink mostly water (a lot of water) and low fat milk. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. I think grapefruit in particular is good to lose weight (BUT NOT IF YOU ARE ON STATIN DRUGS FOR CHOLESTEROL, grapefruits are dangerous when you are on statins) Cut back on chocolates, ice cream, hamburgers: the obvious. GOOD LUCK. I need to take my own advice too.

This is what worked for me. My Dr. recommened The Medifast Diet. It is Soy Protein. It teaches you to eat 5-6 small meals a day every 2-3 hours to speed up your metabolism. You will lose weight quickly with very little exercise. I have lost 35 lbs. so far. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. lovejae247@yahoo.com

Well the healthiest way, I found out, is just to exercise daily and change up your routine a bit everyday and to eat the right foods(fruits, veggies, etc.) You'll start losing weight a lot at first, then you will hit this period where it will feel like you haven't changed, but keep working, you just got to a hill and you have to climb over it.

Exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). No fruit and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts. 8 glasses of water a day. No caffeine

Eat lots of fruit and veg. Drink lots of water and walk everywhere. Don't eat too little or loose weight too quickly(2-3 pounds a week is plenty!). Don't follow any gimmicky diets (Atkins etc) or use any slimming "aids" as these are VERY bad for you.

Follow these simple diet rules and you'll feel great!

Krista is full of crap:
"Some juice but make sure its all natural, because the ones that aren't are loaded with sugar and a leading cause in diabetes in children and adults. "
BS. Natural juices have sugar also. And there's no proven link between juice and diabetes.
"Lots of water, 3-4 liters a day, not all at once, but spread it out. Its really easy to down a liter or two while your watching tv or on the computer."
More BS. No proof that drinking water is helpful. All this is good for is making you pee a lot.
"Also drink some after you eat the bigger meals of the day, it helps your body pick out the nutrients in food when your food is more spread apart."
WHAT?? This is total crap. There is NO evidence to support this BS. (where does she get this?) Your body does NOT need extra water to "pick out" nutrients. What an absurd concept.
"You also need to stay away from any sports drinks unless you’ve just had a long workout and then you need to limit yourself. Most atheletes mix Gatorade with water because its two complex for your body to get all the nutrients out of. It needs to be diluted. "
More crap and BS. The science behind Gatorade has been going on for 30 years and there's NO evidence of any "need" to dilute it. It works just fine as-is. Again, your body does NOT need extra water to "pick out" nutrients.

Don't take diet advice from uneducated 19 year olds. It's full of myth and folklore, sadly lacking in truth and science.
