Yeah, L would love to work as a vet or with a vet. I love both sets of animals but I love dogs the best. I have had some training in grooming dogs of all sizes. During my summers I spent one month working from seven am to 2 p.m five days a week. I cannot cut the hairs very well but I am good with holding them and shampooing them and drying them. Its amazing the I found them more obediant than some of the kids I took care of some summers before I decided to try the vet for a part-time job. Since I am still studying I can do that full time yet. I am looking forward to going back there in two weeks time.

wolfribbon is right but the way I look at it is "If I don't do it, who is going to?". You should pursue your dream and make a difference. I love dogs and animals and I have considered being an animal cop but I know just how heartbreaking that can be too. I can't imagine what it would be like having to see an animal put to sleep or that had been killed. Too horrible. The rewards would be wonderful though. The happy smiling faces of many doggies looking up at you.

I have worked for vets. It is not a go play with the animals all day type job. It can be very heartbreaking & it can be very rewarding. The job involves feeding however many animals are there, bathing, cleaning out cages & runs, washing towels & blankets, walking the dogs, giving medications, giving shots...it takes alot of training. Not just for the job, but you have to train yourself too. You have to go into it realizing that not all the animals can be saved. You have to assist in surgerey & not all animals make it through surgury. It takes a strong mind to work with animals at any level.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just trying to let you know the realities of it. If you still want to do it, go for it. The veterinary world needs more people to do these jobs...they just aren't for everybody. Think about it & follow your heart in whatever you decide.
