I believe a lot of people tend to put the blame on God because they fail to realize why we have so much suffering. We hear so many times about how it was "God's will" that this/that happened or "God wanted" our loved one to be with him in heaven and that's why he/she had to die. However, if we really turned to the scriptures ( God's own personal letter to all of us), then we will be able to really see the reason Behind all the suffering we see around the world.
For example, at Job 34:10 it states " Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!" Also at James 1:13 it states: When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone.
If you notice, those two scriptures are taking from two different areas of the Bible. One in the Hebrew text and the latter in the Greek text. Both clearly conveying the same idea. ( I stated that for those who believe that they Hebrew scriptures are no longer of use today.)
Anyway, so who or what should we place the blame? Well, I can give you three areas to look at.
Again, turning to the scriptures, at 1John 5:19 it reads that "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." Who is the wicked one? Satan. Satan is the sorce of the cruel, insensitive, lack of love that we see taking place today. That is one reason.
A second reason is mankinds own imperfection. As imperfect humans, we make poor decisions that at many times result in hardships. And for that, again, God cannot be tried (blamed). The last reason I can give you for the reason we suffer and shouldn't blame God is again found in the bible at Ecclesiastes 9:11 which reads: "time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all." Sometimes you cannot avoid the circumstances that may come upon you. Such as the Katrina victims or the Sniper victims and we can go on and on and on.
I hope I have satisified the answer to your question. If you would like to know more....hit me back....

Because people don't want to accept responsibility
For the person who wrote about the tsunami's - the questions was about 'our own silly mistakes' not about acts of nature.
That being said though, maybe if we hadn't destroyed, polluted and otherwise wreaked havoc on the planet , space and atmoshere there wouldn't be so many frequent 'natural' disasters as there are now.
Again back to human responsibility

Don't tell me that you believe in god. Human beings invented god so that they can blame someone. This shows our desire to be lazy.We don't want to think or decide or take the blame so we put all the blame on an imaginary thing called god so we will be relieved. What can be better than this. We make something in our minds and whenever we have problem we pray to that thing if it goes well we say he or she or it did it and if it doesn't go well
we blame him or we say maybe it is for our own good. You see no action, neither mentally or physically, required.

People never accept responsibility for their own mistakes in judgement and God is an easy target. Good thing God is so forgiving. We wouldn't be so quick to forgive if we were blamed for the things people blame on God.

We blame God because its easier than blaming each other. By blaming God we can abdicate responsibilty for actions that are man-made. On the other hand, when an accident or incident is labelled an 'Act of God' it can be a way for people to come to terms what has happened.

Because we don't have the guts to stand up and say we are to blame, it's so much easier to blame God, because God will not stand up to defend himself he has no need to, people ask if there's a God why does he let these things happen, well why should he stop us, we make the mess so we should clear it up. Most of us stand by and allow these things to happen, but that's the human race for you, full of greed, and hate.

Because mankind treats God as their order provider, or vending machine - supposedly at their beck and call.
People somehow think that God should only provide for them and in return expect nothing whereas the real method of loving God is exactly the opposite - to love God and expect nothing in return.
When people have all God's blessings, they easily forget and ignore God, only to remember him when something bad happens.

It's easier to put the blame elsewhere than to accept the fact that we alone are responsible for our mistakes. No one wants to admit they messed up, but as we grow and mature, we begin to take responsibility for our own thoughts and actions.

Because God is the creator and he made us, even though the better of us know that God gave us free will to make our own mistakes and triumphs.

Who is we? I don't. :)
I think people in general like to blame others, including God, for their mistakes, rather than accept responsibility. A lot of them blame Satan, too, when he had nothing to do with their choices.
