He's the first thing you think of when you wake up and the last thing you think of before you sleep. And all you do is to please him, like wearing what you know he'll like, or being really tidy cos you know he is, or being nice to your parents.

Well years ago in a Marriage and the Family class I learned that people often mistake what they are feeling as loved.
People often feel loved, which they interpret as love, yet this is coming from outside themselves.
In order to truly understand what love is two people might have to agree on what the term means to them. Maybe you could make a list of things you would identify as love that you feel internally. When you have a number of these things going on at the same time you may be in love.
A convoluted answer I know, but love is self defined and means different things to different people.

Lust does feel like love in the fact that your heart may skip a beat; difficult to sleep or not being able to concentrate on anything but the person you are after.
But I find that love is much different in that you have a desire to do almost anything for this person. You want to praise the person; care for the person, protect and comfort the person. It comes to you Instinctively. You may well imagine being out with the person and planning a future with the person or imagine yourself not being worthy.
While you may well see their faults you want to help them to overcome them and you may well do if possible. That to me is LOVE.
Love is a emotion that is not overcome by the ageing process, the boundary of the bank balance or any health condition. Its never about what they have but who they are. Not many are privileged to experience it and even many more do not have it reciprocated. What a sweet life we live :(.

When he passes by do you think about talking to him? Are you shy around him, you don't know how to act? Is he the only thing you think about? Do you picture him and yourself out, having a good time? Do you stare at him a lot? Do you do things or say things that you think might impress him? Do you think that you're not good enough for him? Do you think he's too hot for me? If you answered yes to the last 2 questions then you are in love sweetie.

The definitions vary, however you will know love based off what you are willing to do and you are not looking for anything in return. Because if you are looking for something in return based off of your actions then your "love" will be conditional. So you will know true love when you have no conditions towards your actions.
