My tonkanese boy sits at the window and seems to be making bird calls when there are birds in the lawn. I can only guess he’s trying to fool the birds so that he can kill them. I've heard that Siamese and Tonkanese are very vocal, but … Is this possible???

My cat is part siamese and he was outside making these crazy noises one day I never heard a cat make before. He was, i'm sure, calling birds. It was the coolest thing I ever saw. He was almost talking! I've tried to research it but never found anything. Yup, I think it's possible!

Something outside
is annoying the cat. This is the sound most cats make when there is something that is annoying them, like a bird or squirrel that they can't get to, and this is the way they express it. I have 3 cats and they all do this at the back door or windows when the birds are in the yard. It's as cute as s**t, especially when there are 3 of them doing it as they crawl all over each other trying to get the best look or closer to the object."

No - they make crazy muttering sounds which is just natural catness when excited. Conversely, birds are damn good at making cats on window ledges go crazy and jump off the ledge, thus ending all 9 lives in one leap. I've personally known 4 such cases of fatal attraction (different owners and situations).

My siamese does the same thing but I don't think he's fooling the birds!

Sure its possible, that is, if you provide him with professional ventriloquist training! lol My cat does the same thing as I live in a second floor condo I bought recently. He sits in my office and attempts to lure cats how way even though he can't get them. He's a funny rascal!

don't know if it works well, but I have had several kitties "chirp" at birds, from various breeds. I have heard my cats imitate other species as well, from dogs to human words. any cat could probably "speak" a passable "mom" and one of mine swore one day when his tail was stepped on. at least, a very close sound to the "F" word.

You are thinking too much like a human, cats brains are not capable of this kind of scheming. They have their own techniques for catching birds, mice, etc. And it works pretty well as it is.

I don't know if that is the purpose, but my cat used to do the same thing. She was siamese.

It could be.. Or maybe they're just saying that they want to be out there eating the said bird.
