I have always told myself that I will never get married. Is that bad? Just because I am only 21 and I know that I have a lot to offer but I am afraid to get married and the marriage not working out and getting a divorce. If I wanted that kinda trouble I should just stick with bf/gf relationships. People say you will know when the time is right that you really want to marry that person, but honestly, I dont feel that feeling coming anytime soon. lol Oh well...so any advice?

Not everyone is wired to get married. Being married is a 24/7 job that requires self-sacrifice, understanding and patience, especially if children are involved. My brother decided at 25 he did not want children and had a vasectomy. I was the only family member who applauded his decision. He told me he was far to selfish to give children the time, patience and attention they need.

Being single has it's advantages too. No one to compromise with, get permission from, answer to, etc.

While you are single, enjoy your life. Save money, but travel, get involved in things that interest you. Have bunches of friends for companionship.

If you meet someone who just lights up your world, go slowly, be best friends first. Build your relationship on respect, understanding, selflessness and common interests. Those are the things that help you weather the storm when you hit rough times, and you will.

But please, don't marry because you think it is the right thing to do or for lustful reasons.

What people have said is right. Marriage is a natural bilateral relationship with social sanction and legal consequences. Until and unless you get a like-minded person it is advisable to remain unmarried rather than getting into a mess in the name of marriage. Marriage means union of two bodies, two minds and two hearts. It is a great responsibility for both the partners, that is why in India it is called Vivaha means Vishesh Bahana or (special) extra responsibility. Do not bother, it is not too late as per your age these days to get married. Be a little more mature, develop an open mind and one day you'll certainly get a suitable person whom you will like to marry and he will be very happy to have married you. God bless you!
