The denial was based on income from 9 years ago which a job was created for this person in order for this person to survive with mutliple disabilities - both mental and physical & for health insurance.

First of all, never never quit. Look carefully at the reason given for denial, and then take it step by step building all your evidence that will support your position. When you have everything in order, then resubmit your claim because you will receive benefits for which you are entitled. That is the law, and no one representative has the power to deny you what is right.

Contact an attorney that specializes in Social Security law. If the person that is applying worked, or got married, their is a good chance that they are not eligible for SSD. If they are disabled, and have resources of less than 2K, and limited income, they MAY be eligible for SSI. You can apply for SSI and/or SSD through the Social Security Administration. Also, their are time limits that you can apply for an appeal. I think it is 60 days from the day you get your denial letter, so act quickly. Good luck!!
