YES! And I blame it on the parents who came into their own in the 60's and 70's. That's where it began. That's when people started getting the impression that the world owed them. "If it feels good do it" and the "Me" generations. I was born in 1968 so you'd think I was attacking myself here but I had a very old dad who valued manners. I was a product of "Children should be seen and not heard". That just seems cruel now! Nobody would dream of telling their kid to suht up and listen and to respect their elders. EXPRESS YOURSELF! Is what it's all about now and who cares what other people think. I'm on a damn cell call get out of my way!

Not really . At times, people dont make an extra effort......coz of laziness....or may be because non-interference is what is expected at that particular moment .
These days manners too are customized as per the needs of people . What maybe suitable to you might not be liked by others .
I guess manners are more in practice now .
We never had Cyb manners in past .
For every new thing or info that comes into light, there is a prescribed code of conduct & people do abide by them , ofcourse exceptionals are always there .
These days the unacceptable behaviour comes to everybody's knowledge because of awareness .

Yes. Manners were a matter of the social mores in the past. They are no longer an issue in the present generation. Over a couple of generations we have gradually done away with anything resembling manners.

Of course, yes it does. The reason for this is that more people cause more activities. Each one is likely to be in more charges of his/her own works and try to achieve them without thinking of other people's feelings finally. Hence, people these days have less manners than in the old days!

Absolutely! So many people are impatient, rude and inconsiderate of others these days, it makes going just about any place unpleasant. I think it's due to the fact that people (at least in the US) are so used to getting everything quickly (fast food...etc.), that when they have to wait for something or someone, they simply get angry. We should all learn to relax and take life less serious...maybe that would get some manners back:)

Hell yes! Manners are fast becoming a thing of the past and each year I find they are falling further and further by the wayside.
It's my belief that MOST people don't even KNOW what the word, "manners" even means...they should look it up in the dictionary because it MATTERS!!!!!

Like most things it's a lack of education. While I heartily support the loss of manners like which fork is appropriate to use for which dish and the appropriate address of a divorced cousin twice removed who's now marrying the daughter of your godmother, I do see a need for the orginal intent of manners which is to make the people around you as comfortable in your presence as possible. We seem to lack the general attentiveness and awareness of other people's feelings. Something that is slipping by with each decade, the eighties "me" decade certainly dealt a blow to gracious humility in public. While I certainly see a desire for manners there is a sad lack of knowing about the verbage and the exact right way to remove yourself from uncomfortable situations. I reccommend giving miss manners guide to everyone whose close to you at some point in their lives from birth to weddings and childrearing. And reading them yourself.

Yes. People don't realize that you don't have to be a very classy person to be nice. All you have to do is have manners. If you don't have manners, you won't go far. It doesn't matter what kind of family you come from. All you need is manners!

No it's myth that our parents use to try to get us to have better manners. The reality is their generation had the same manners we do, they just try to make it seem like theirs was like those old tv shows and movies. Now its considered more acceptable to voice your opinion and say what you honestly feel. Its not bad manners if thats the social norm of the time.

Of course. Children are being raised without learning proper manners and people in general have let go of manners because of impatience.
