Not sure how long your hair is, but if possible, you should cut it short, trimming off all those broken-off hairs and start again. Go ahead, don't worry, your hair will grow back sooner than you think.
Also, diet plays a great part, eat and drink lots of calcium and iron, found in milk, fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water (could be dehydration).
One last option is, a couple of hours before you wash your hair, massage olive oil into your scalp and wrap your head in a towel, then wash and condition as usual. It will help.

If you straighten or blowdry your hair, keep it to a minimum as much as possible, but if you do decide to straighten it or whatever you do, put mousse or hairspray on it first, that way it stays afterwards & the heat will pretty much burn the hairspray before it gets to your hair. Condition it every day but not too much.
Gel won't do anything but make your hair look the way it already does & stay that way.
My mom's a professional hairdresser so I hear about this a lot.

Oh, my dear, you need hair splints! Broken hair is very serious and could leave you crippled for life if not treated swiftly and professionally. Oh, the horror of it all!
I do understand that you want your hair looking great as its the very first thing I look at on a woman. Hope you find a solution, my friend.

Trim or cut your hair to start with. Talk to your stylist and ask for help..And go ahead and try the mayonnaise, coconut oil,Aussie's leave in conditioner (its in a packet i think n it's to help with hair like yours' )..good luck ..also if it's long switch pony tail holders and don't use headbands with teeth..

Bad hairproducts or overuse. Specially haircolorproducts.
Bad diet.
Sunbathing
Hats
Find it and fix it.
