im glad you asked that. this is going to take a while but ill try and give you a short version to prove by the bible that this is in fact the days just before the tribulation. the most important thing to remeber is scripture interprates scripture in other words you can find answers to questions thru out all the 66 books of the bible. here is 3 key points to prove this is those days. lets look at the 1st key point in 2 thessalonians 2:1-12. verse 3 says let no man deciev you by any means FOR THAT DAY SHALL NOT COME EXCEPT THERE COME A FALLING AWAY FIRST, and that man of sin the wicked one be revealed, the son of perdition. (or anti-christ). what that verse said is the anti-christ cannot be revealed untill a falling away happens. whats a falling away? some say that is a rapture i kinda agree with that but i think the falling away is the gradual decline of true christians. think back 60 years ago churches were packed our church just 25 years ago had on average 125 people every sunday morning now it does good to get 30 weve lost 95 people in 25 years and our church isnt the only one churches all over are that way there is few exceptions but for the most part that is the norm we are dealling with the hole here. christianity keeps declining in numbers eventually God will have no option but to send christ to rapture the church. the thing that is not noticed here is while true christians are on the decline satan is on the incline the holy spirit is what is keeping satan at bay now but as the holy spirit goes away satan encounters less resistance so finally when the church is raptured then satan or the anti-christ will have free run of the world. now look at society today all over the world am i right in this observation. just watch the news all the murders child abuse immorality its there people be honest. 2nd thing there has to be a nation of isreal. ezekiel 37:1-28 talks about a rebirth of a nation (isreal) prior to may 1948 there was no nation of isreal some people think every generation is the terminal generation if theyd study the bible they see prior to 1948 that there was going to be no return of Christ the bible says so dont argue me argue the bible if ya dont believe it but thats what it clearly says. now God has refered to isreal as the fig tree several times in the bible look at Hosea 9:10 and Joel 1:1-9. now lets look at Mathew 24:32-34 it says now learn the parable of the fig tree(isreal) when his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves ye know summer is nigh so like wise ye when ye shall see all things know that it is near even at the doors verily i say unto you this generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled. now look at isreal its only 58 years old and one of the stongest nations in the world id say that they are its putting for leaves while its branches are yet tender (or young). thats the 2nd key point and now the last one the 3rd point. the revived roman empire. in daniel chapter 2 verses 31 thru 45 daniel is descibing a dream this dream was a statue head of gold breast and arms of silver his belly and thighs of brass his legs of iron and his feet part of iron and part of clay. now we will use world history to reveal this image daniel told nebuchandnezzar he was the head of gold the Babylonian empire then there would be one after him the arms and breast of silver is the medo-persian empire and the third kingdom belly and thighs of brass is the greecian empire now here is the key part for our times the legs of iron was the next kingdom can ya guess who it was? the roman empire the legs of iron. now lets look at the feet of iron and clay the feet have iron in it so part of i has to be rome in some form but the clay shows its the same as it was somethings different about this roman empire. look at the european union. i got a map of the roman empire in all its glory all the territory it had all europe middle east parts of africa, then i got a map of europe to day with all the nations and i colored the nations that was part of the european union and the reseblance is astounding you can see the rebirth of the roman empire and this is important because the anti-christ has to come from this. daniel saysin chapter 9:26 that and the people of the prince that sahll come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. rome leveled jerusalem in like 90 a.d. destroyed the city this prince to come is the anti-christ so there you have it it was legthy i know but i know you wanted rock solid proof of what you believe and there it is.

Mathew ch. 24 Jesus talks of the end times
Daniel makes mention of knowledge explosion. Knowledge has increased expontentially since 1900.
1 Timothy 4 gives more information as well.
Jesus said no one knows the time but we can know the season. Matthew 24 captures it well and gives many clues. Jesus also said not one iota will be left before all is fulfilled.
Revelation speaks of the seven churches, which are symbolic of the states and times of the church today and the warnings they imply. Then we get into the Great Tribulation, which, Jesus said, if the days weren't shortened, no man would survive. Any indication of bad this will be? Good news is the Christians won't be going through this.

Given the condition of the Middle East and the world at this time, more than any other time in history - it is most likely true.

The world has never faced such a devastating threat of nuclear or biological weapons. Look at the instability of all these nations especially the insanity of Iran's leaders and North Korea.

These people lack any real comprehension of their actions should they launch nuclear of bio-weapons. They would do so in a heart beat based on religious zeal.

The Middle East brand of Islam is extreme regardless of what others say. It does not matter that there are some peaceful Muslims.. The Extremists negate that fact and are the ones who are gaining power in the Middle East (look at Iran's arrogance and Syria).

One of the trademarks of the Beast (Antichrist) is beheading - it says so in the book of Revelation. Of all the religions of the world - Middle East Islam is known for beheading people whom the deem apostate Muslims or Non Muslims.

The Bible also (Daniel 9:27) indicates an evil temple would be erected on a wing of Solomon's Temple.....

While Solomon's temple was destroyed - the foundations of this magnificent Jewish Temple remain. And On a "WING" of the Temple Mount (site of former Solomon's Temple) - is a Muslim Mosque - "The Dome of the Rock" which houses an idol of stone that Muslims kiss and reverence (idolatry). That stone is a moon rock.

Daniel 9:27 also (in the NIV Footnote, alternate ending for that verse) Identifies the "One who causes desolations" (Antichrist) as arriving or coming from this temple of abominations.

Clearly the Bible foresaw the coming of Islam and the Antichrist coming from it. The Middle East is looking for a Mahdi - a kind of messiah..., and are actively trying to establish a Caliph (think of him as a Muslim Pope) who will rule all Muslims and lead them into war agains all Non Muslims.

Nope.
Every generation says the same thing and they have all been wrong. Besides for the end of the world to happen there must be two sunrises in a 24 hour period. Something that is patently impossible. (and no, it doesn't mean an eclipse, it specifically says TWO sunrises)

So try not to worry about mythology ok? Worry about what's happening in the REAL world.

The following is my opinion on the book of revelation. i hope others with an interest in religion will enjoy this, then comment, so we can get some interesting discussion going.
Revelation is the center piece of modern Judeo-Christian apocalypse mythology. It was originally written by John (not the baptist) as a letter to other christians of his time. John wrote this letter while imprisoned by the romans (for being a christian) on the island of patmos.

In such situations people have a tendency to either go insane from isolation or tap into their subconscious for company. and im not just saying that to be funny. if any person, even a mentally healthy person, is deprived of sentient stimulus, then they will hallucinate (both auditory and visual) simply because the brain becomes bored and seeks entertainment.

A lot of the symbols in the book of revelation are not original. In fact, some say that those symbols were used deliberately by John to convey a hidden message to the christians he was writing to, that the romans wouldn't understand. Most likely a message to reassure his fellow christians, as any good leader would do.
John was counting on people from his time to understand just what his letter meant. now in our modern age it is regarded as a great mystery from god because it is rare that this generation of christians would think in terms of those arcane symbols. symbols like dragons in the sky and the signifigance of numbers. so modern theologians try to associate the symbols in johns letter with things like armies and war machines because we, like every generation, believe that the end is near.

christians were facing terrible oppression and persecution during those early times in the religion's history. i think anyone who would be killed for their beliefs would want an escape from the world that hated them. believing that the world which is persecuting you for your beliefs would be destroyed by the god that you believed in, would indeed be a much needed emotional release. the idea of a holy apocalypse gave early christians hope and confidence that they were not dying without cause.

today christians often interpret the book of revelations as describing a horrible opression that christians will have to face that weren't saved before the tribulation. but i believe it is important to note how much oppression christians were facing when the book was written. it is more likely that the angel of the lord that revealed all these things to John was actually a hallucination that John created to calm his own doubts.
given the circumstances that john was enduring as one of the leaders of a religion that was costing people their lives, and as a prisoner, mental collapse should not be ruled out as a possibility.
i will say here again, believing that the world which hates you for your beliefs would be destroyed by the god you believe in, would be a quenching emotional release.

i feel that theologians can give so much creedence to the book of revelation because it was written by a man who was familiar with the jewish mythology which had been building up over the past 4000 years. the jewish religion is rich with fundamental archetypes that are synonymous with countless other religions. most religions are essentially telling the same story, but there are few (i would say) as well developed as the old testament and new testament. with that rich resevoir of information influencing John (the old testament), his subconscious would have a lot to draw from to create hallucinations and dreams. the well developed old testament also would give john a clear depiction of human nature. clear enough to write a poetic prose about his idea of how man's world would end, which could continue to mystify theologians for generations to come.
the symbols of revelation were nothing new when john wrote them. that's why i'd say this book wasn't inspired by the divine as much as it was by previous religious concepts, symbols, and philosophies.

People have believed we were living in the end times since the time of the apostle paul. Paul claimed the christians of his time would see the return of Christ.

The problem with end times prophesy is that every time period can look for similarities and claim that because of the similarities, the end is near.

Not yet-revelation perod is not until the christian rapture. Then the period of the anti-christ, who fools us by bringing peace on earth, is the revelation period. Recent estimate are the year 2012, or after the death of the next pope.

Tammy the word for tree is 'noble' in the east. Chernobyl means wormwood tree. Yes we are in Revelations and have been for many many years. I remember something about a bright light and a wormwood tree and pollution all around.
