No offense, but I've used Norton AntiVirus and it had multiple connection issues and even blocked some programs that I like even though I had the settings so that it wouldn't block those particular programs, so I suggest to 'upgrade' to McAfee Antivirus. It saved my computer from destruction.

Note: to this day, I still have a part of Norton on my computer that I can't get rid of because it won't uninstall or get deleted even if I reinstall and try to uninstall again.

Go directly to the website:
http://www.symantec.com and you can do a manual update there. Just click on downloads and do a manual update.

Do the intelligent update too.

The intelligent update will add more virus protection into your computer so you should always do that extra step. They have the update available every week so you should do it manually every week.

Go here for the intelligent update:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html
And click on Download Virus Definitions (Intelligent Updater Only) If you dont have intelligent updater then you should get it from norton.
