I do not know about CA but I know that CO will not insure a home owner or a renter if a dog can be mean. Even it has just a little bit of that kind of breed. This is very true with pit bulls.

I don't know if it's lawful, but how can the people who are renting you the property prove that your dog has a bit of pit bull? I'd say deny it. It seems absurb that a minute bit of pit bull would matter anyway.

Don't know about California, but if you own a pet in Pennsylvania, especially one that is a known biter or can be vicious, they will not deny you renters insurance, but they will raise the rates.

i would say this is true. as a landlord and a homeowner. if you have certain breeds; rott,germ. shep, pits, doberman,the kist keeps growing...you cant get homeowners insurance. most companies dont even fight a dog bite incident yet, they just pay.

I have been seeing this happen more often. THey consider these dogs a liability.
