Yes. I also have a min pin and found a fair sized one on him once. You should light a match then blow out flame and press on to body of tick (be careful not to touch your dogs skin!) then slowly ease the tick off so as to remove the head as well. If you do it too quick the head stays in the dogs skin. Frontline is good also if you are in Scotland i would advise a garlic capsule in the dogs food at meal times too. Beasties hate the smell that seeps thru the coat. As for the worry about treating the cats. If frontline is administered correctly in the centre of the back of the neck, it shouldnt be a problem. Cats cant reach that spot and if you have multiple cats, seperate them for a few hours till well dry. Hope this helps.

I have not heard of a frontline spray, but any dog can get tick and fleas. I like frontline better than advantix because it kills the flea eggs as well as the adult fleas. My lab is allergic to almost everything else too.

Advantix is the best for dogs. DO NOT put it on your cats. Cats systems are very different. Your vet can tell you what to use on cats. Fur has nothing to do with getting ticks. If you follow the directions and put it at the base of their skull, they can't lick it.

take the pup to the vet, the vet will weigh the pup to find out how many pumps of the spray you will need to put on, do it in the back garden so its well ventilated because it smells really strong, just dont let the pup lick himself until hes dry, it takes 48hrs for it to work on ticks (frontline spray) and its safe to use on pups age 2 days and up. best of luck

you can get a frontline spot-on. you put it between their shoulder blades where they can't lick it. just as effective as the spray. Also try garlic as a supplement, fleas and ticks hate it.

Yes any animal can get these nasty little buggers, we use frontline on both our dogs and cat and had no problems what so ever.
