My daughter is only 8 years old and has super thick straight hair. It looks beautiful loose, but all her little friends wear it in pig tails and pony tails and she wants to do the same. Most hair products actually break because of the thickness and the twisty thing cant go around more than once. Once is too loose and the hair falls down. Twice busts the rubber band thing/ I do condition her hair. Is there anything else I can do. She doesnt want ti cut it.

Take her to a hairdresser and ask them to layer it for you. She doesn't necessarily need to get it cut, but layers in long or short hair help with the thickness. A good hairdresser can help you.

Try buying shampoo that is for thick hairs.Or go to hair shop and tell them to layer the hair for your daughter, but i thin kthey wilil cut a little bit of her hair. Anyway, hair can alway grow, right? So telll her that. Then maybe she will go to the hair shop and layer it for your daughter.

they make ouchless ponytail holders that dont have the metal things on them and they wont break the hair and they also have extra large ponytail holders for very thick hair (you can find them at Wal Mart) or you can have her hair thinned, which isnt the same as cutting because it doesnt look any shorter.

I think they make hair products that are targeted for thicker hair. Maybe try a beauty supply store. I have thick hair as well and I love it. Tell your daugther that she is beautiful and to love her hair.

Take her to the beauty shop and have them texturize (thin) it. Maybe a few long layers.
