The car was purchased new and out of state. They have not sent me the check for the taxes or the memorandem title. The state I live in will not transfer plates without the title. My 30 day tags expire in 2 days and the dealership has not sent a new 30 day tag even though I asked them to a week ago. What can I do?

Follow the trail that was started.Call the dealership the car was purchaced from and ask if they sent in the paperwork for the tag. Then call the DMV of the state it was purchased in case it was registered in that state....mistakes happen...Now this last one I am guessing but it might help......Call a local tag and title place and see if they might be able to get an extention until your tag comes to you. I suggest the AAA as they are nationwide. The link is below.Fill in your zip code to start.

If you paid for the car in full, you would've got the title outright. If you have financed this vehicle, the bank that financed your car will have the title, not the dealership. And if this is just about transferring the plates you may want to consider just getting a new set of plates, most dmv's don't require the title being presented if someone has a lien on the vehicle, just the lien holders info. Hope this helps.

File for a duplicate title within the county where you bought the car. (Use internet to search). I live in NY & had to get a duplicate title from Ohio. I downloaded & printed the forms & then sent in to the county clerk. It took abt a week to get the title in the mail (so that doesn't solve your 2 day issue), but it may be the best you can do.

Also, and I'm not confident abt this, but if your temporary plates are out of state, it might not be out of jurisdiction for your current state to give you a ticket.

Contact the place you bought the car from first . If you get nowhere with that . Contact your local state representatives office to help you hammer out this issue thats part of what your tax dollars pay for !. They know who and for sure where to call to get the ball moving for you ...
