You have to market yourself. It takes a lot of creativity and hard work. You could start by having your best pieces professionally photographed. Have slides made and enter every competition you can. If you get a few "best of shows" under your belt it will give you an in with the galleries. You might also consider donating some of your work to charitable auctions. Hospitals and fraternal organizations (lions club, Rotary) are always looking for items to auction. A lot of very wealthy people show up at these events. If you can place your art in some nice homes you might get a lot of word of mouth advertising. The truth is the real galleries won't even look at your work unless they already know who you are. So you have to start by getting your name and you art recognized.
Good Luck.

Depends on the works of the artist and the gallery. best way is to research the galleries in your area or in other areas, send a letter of introduction and a sampling of your work. each gallery accepts differing views of art at different times of the year. You may also seek out contests and different art shows that may be put on in your area or other parts of the nation. check with teachers at colleges and art schools ask their advice. best thing is to research and marketing.

Many famous painters had to die first. Secondarily you might try painting something in public and have some of your work there with you for people to see. Build a following that way.

Take your portfolio to the art galleries in your area and see if the owners have any interest in showing your work. If they don't, maybe it's time to reconsider your career choice.

First of all, you'd need to upload your art into the computer. Then go to www.deviantart.com and make an account. You can upload your pictures there, where other people can view your gallery and you can view theirs.

Start marketing it on ebay.
You can submit images of your artwork to the www.worldartistdirectory.com They only accept 25 percent of the submitted work. You will have become a listed artist.Like myself.
From that point you will be invited to present your work in shows ect.
Sell some of your work on ebay also.
