This is not literal. Jeremiah was not talking about a drunk. He simply meant that man got things all screwed up.

Here are some in favor of that verse: (a) we have polluted everything: earth, and our minds; (b) everything we create for our own good results in bad ( TVs, cars, etc)

What do you think?

I would have to agree, Jeremiah 10:23 is just stating how misguided human direction can be. We can see from the way human rulers have conducted themselves that they would be better off if they actually took their guidance from God's word. Jehovah God is a god of love, wisdom, justice and power. His way has proven to be the best way of living. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 says: "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial". Beneficial for what? "For teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work". Man needs the Bible's direction so that he doesn't continue to screw things up.

Jeremiah was a Prophet of God and told him to tell the people that if they went into bondage they would come again and rebuilt the city,if not they would die.God was angry because the people kept mocking the prophets that were speaking for God,they even threw Jeremiah in a sh-- hole.It is no surprise to me that you or anyone else comes up with whatever to say this and that about the Old Testament but you are wrong like most Christians.

This is mainly referring to the sovereignty of God in the affairs of men similar to Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
Also correct is mans inability to seek after God but God also reveals through Jeremiah that He has His own plan and remedy :

As the desolation of Judah was approaching, Jeremiah was desperately trying to get them to see that repentance was their only hope. Instead they turned to manufacturing idols - as if idols could save them. Jeremiah reminds them that what they were doing rather than helping them, was in fact a further aggravation of their already appalling sin against God.

Simply put it is impossible for man to direct his own footsteps and wind up in a place where God would want him.
The man that allows God to direct his path and footsteps will never be on the wrong road.

I believe That God directs mens steps. John 1:11-13 He came unto His own, and His own received Him not....But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on His name....Which were born not of blood, nor of the WILL of the flesh, nor of the WILL of man, but of God.....Psalms 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He deligheth in his way......Pro. 16:9 A mans heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.....Job 14:16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?....Psalms 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

personally, i think it's talking about how man doesn't have any power at all, there's another verse that says something about what do men have, other than the breath on their lips, i think it's a similar verse, but i'm not a Bible scolar or anything.

I only use the old testament as a history reference for teaching new Christians.
