Please try to answer with something more than just "it's offensive." Tell me why you find it more offensive than other slanders (if you do). Why is it more degrading when compared to a multitude of other slang sayings and what not? Also let me know if you are not really offended by it. Or if another word irks you more.

Ok, the "C" word is one that rhymes with "runt." Also if you do find that it is offensive, is it because your were taught that or what? After all, a word needs to be taught to be offensive by some source. Otherwise it is just another word, slang or otherwise.

well, to do a little research, i found many web pages for this! basically, the word in itself is offensive in just the sound of it. the hard K sound followed by the hard T sound is forceful, and grating on the ears. no one agree were it came from, but everyone agrees that it means a part of a woman's body, and that is less than pristine. so to call someone this would mean to the person it was said to that they were dirty, unclean, nasty, etc.
if you referred to that part of her body as a C-nt, you are saying that you think that it is overused and disgusting. it says you think of her as a slut. even if you do not know the word, the way it is pronounced (the tone of it) is understood as a insult.

Maybe it's because it hasn't been overused the way the others have, so it hasn't lost quite as much of its power. Out of the most offensive words, I can only think of one other one that is used almost entirely against women, (b**ch) and that has lost so much of its punch from daily use.

When I was a teen I was royally mad at my mother for something (no idea what now!) and used that word against her because I knew that it would have the desired effect of showing how incredibly pissed off I was. What I didn't anticipate was the slap across the face I received - it's the ONLY time I remember my mother laying a hand on me in my life. Consequently, that word has an awesome amount of power in my mind, and I would never use it. I don't think I've ever had it used against me, so don't know how I would react, but overall it's a word that I don't like to hear.

I'm a guy, and that word irks me more than anything else in the world. I think that women should be respected above all else, and that word just goes against everything I believe in.

because when someone calls you that they are trying to use the most repulsive word they know will hurt. In my opinion it is more INTENT than the actual word. bi*** is just not as mean and hurting.

what is the "C" word? i use to be offended by the " B" word, but as i got older, i would just answer, "if you find a better "B"than me, give me her number".

cause, in the very first place, i already can't stand it when people swear. i'm really offended when i hear people like, scolding someone else F***, or, in my country, swear words in dialect. it sounds really crude and just gets on my nerves!
