chances are it's because you went through the American education system.

if you aren't American, you could be dyslexic. it's a learning disability characterized by the inability to see characters (letters) properly.

You are probably not comfortable with reading. It's not for everyone. But there is a wealth of information out there, and it's quite theraputic. Try reading only things that really interest you for awhile and then progress to other subjects. You might want to join a book club that is available at most any library. After awhile reading becomes a habit. Benefit is you get more educated as you go along.

depending on when you feel difficulty at other times you may have a condition known as adult ADD (attention deficiet disorder). Adult ADD is more common than most people think. you should talk to you doctor about some of your difficulties and maybe he/she can help you.

You might have a learning disability:
Dyslexia: When you see things differently for example the word the might look like hte to you.
ADD/ADHD: Attention Deficit Disorder.....it make it hard to concentrate and stay on one subject its like your brain is stuck on the channel+ button
These disorders are common and could be easily treated
