Last week I went to Paris and I as walking in the Jardin des Tuileries (near the Musee du Louvree), the tour suddenly appeared in my visual field. But didnt look upright, I tried to follow its axis and it was inclined as well.

I walked around its base and the pillars dont have any crack, but from the distance it does look like leaning!

Have you seen it or ever heard about it as to any reason, or is it just a building defect?

I took a tour of the tower a few years ago. In the spring/summer, the tower does lean. The metal heats up from the sun, and becomes somewhat pliable. It follows the path of the sun as it tracks across the sky.

You are absolutely right. From the place you were it does look like it is leaning. But it is an optical illusion. I was told once but never checked, that the tower has a laser-light plumb line. You see, if the tower did lean the Lift (escalator) would be out of line and cause problems. You should go to Pisa and see a proper lean

We were there a few weeks ago and it didn't look like it was leaning to me. Maybe because I was leaning most of the time I was there. Too much wine in the cafes.

No, it's not leaning. It might be some sort of optical illusion.
