Why? here's why: because most of the destiny you talk about is shaped by your actions, not by someone else. The concept only comes into play most of the time, if **** hits the fan and there's nothing much you can do anymore, you call on God to change this for you. Its all abt. being accountable for your life , and how you live it. God can and will only do so much for you. Freewill is the word . God can make miracles od course. but it is subject to how you prefer going on with your life... think abt. it.

The real question is should we blame God if he interferes in the first place and things go wrong? Or; do we hold ourselves accountable for our own actions.
Does God intervene now?
I think these individuals just want to take responsibility for what they do in life. After all we are given choices every day.
Who is to say that they are not touched by the divine.
Believe me; if God intervenes; you will see it on CNN first. And not some guy scoring a touchdown or hitting a homerun.
Heroes are made and not born.
Forged by their upbringing; they make the tough choices.
They each thank God just for getting them home at the end of the day.
As for these individuals; if it makes them feel better that they have some control in their lives; then more power to them.
Just remember that only God makes rain, sunshine, the air we breathe, and all life in the universe.
When a man can create his own universe and do all those things; then you have just met God.

Because people do control their own destiny with very little, if any, intervening power of God.

I have always maintained that if I really believed that I had no control of my life and that it was completely planned out and controlled by God, I would kill myself. There is no such thing as pre-destination. If God planned my childhood and teen years, he's a jack-*** and a hypocrite.

Luckily, I know better.

Because it's true. I would rather believe that I am responsible for my own destiny. My life is what I make it.

You 'chritsians' like to attribute good things that happen to god but not the bad things. In fact it is all down to you. Think & take control of your life

Because people can think what they want, that is the great thing about us "people" we have are own minds and own beliefs. I need no god to control my "destiny" unless I feel he can help me "which I dont". We make are own destinys.

My thought is that we create everything around us....my belief is that God sent us here to be tested...why would he plan everything for us it this is a test, teachers in school don't give a test, then toss them out when we are done only to decided our grade without looking at them....

How I create: When I am clear what I want, I go make it happen, and I beleive that a hight power (God), will support me, but doesn't plan how it has to look, I have the thought that he might know how it will end up, and I am the creator....

2 Timothy 3
Godlessness in the Last Days
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Are you serious? I would hope people knew they were in control of their own destiny. You can ask for strength but the rest is up to you.

You must acknowledge that some people didn't grow up with the knowledge or understanding of the existence of God.

They grew up learning to depend on themselves only.

If you were never properly taught about God, why would you put your trust in Him?

Just playing the devil's advocate here.
