If God or the Superior Being is pure love, forgiveness and grace, he could not, or would not create a being who's sole purpose in existence is evil, with no chance to evolve to be better. If Satan was not created by God, Satan must have been created before God, which cannot be correct for God is the first cause of all things.

If there is to be such a thing as free will, there must be something besides pure love, grace and goodness. There must also be evil. Some believe that Satan exists like you and me and some don't, but I think we can agree he represents evil in a metaphoric sense, if nothing else.

And the timeline of who was created in what order regarding God and Satan is dependent on human understanding of time, which is very limited. I don't believe that God is constrained by our concept of time and space, so asking who was created first applies a human concept to the super-human world. Ergo, there's no answer to that question.

Does Satan actually exist? Who knows. But there is certainly more about this universe & existence of ours that we don't know or comprehend than that which we do.

Hello friend,

It's perhaps a difficult, probably unanswerable question. However, I'll take a stab. The answer lies in "purpose". What would the purpose of existence, love and grace be without hardness, bad and evil to balance and set things in perspective. We are human. Our intellect requires, even demands reason. The bad gives us that purpose or reason for being.

The bad also makes us strive for good. No one truly wants to be mottled up in evil. So we are given together with the evil, the horizon, the goal to strive for. And only thus can we advance to new and better beings, beyond the ancient and primitive.

We have bad because we are simply not ready for pure good yet.

Good day friend.

that is the problem with most people. they have no comprehension that without evil there is no good they NEED one another to exist.the whole meaning of the yin yang and the reason that a bride wears white and a groom wears black it creates a whole. christianity has just really screwed up religion. before the crusades where christians/catholics slaughtered anyone who chose a different religion everyone got along and things were cool. why would you choose to believe a religion that is only 2000 yrs old with a book written by a guy and stole EVERYTHING from the pagans when religions has existed for 10s of thousands of years

Becaus if you have good you must have evil. Im sure it was made up when religion was made up. We all know of the egypts sun god, wind god ect. We know they are not real so what makes our god real? You actually belive their is a thing just sitting around making stuff. As soon as you find a person that has gone to hell and back let me know. Same gose for heaven.

As I understand it Satan was created by God and "fell from grace".

The short answer is free-will I expect.

Peace out

(BTW I am not religious so don't waste your time flaming me ... I'm just answering the question not agreeing with the premise)

Satan did not start out that way. You would have to have an understand of our pre-existence to really grasp that. God also gave us our free agency to do as we wish, with the appropriate consequences. Cyndaly has answered this much better than I!

Satan was created by God. But originally, satan was Lucifer, a very powerful angel in heaven with God. Lucifer got arrogant and decided he could over throw God, so he gathered together a third of heaven to fight God with him. He lost of course, and was then thrown out of heaven, along with the third that was fighting with him, and became the devil. they get to roam the earth trying to take as many of us with them as they can before they get to spend an eternity in the fiery pits of hades.

Satan's creation was through Jesus as one of the Angels. One of many angels that were created to serve God long before creation of our universe.
Following God's will both Jesus and Satan had large groups of angelic following doing his will.
Satan thought too highly of himself and destroyed his standing befor god... It's all in your bible, you just need to know where to look!

Satan was created good, but turned evil because he was selfish and wanted God's position.
