I guess it would depend on what kind of espresso (shots, capuccino, latte, etc), what time of day, a snack or breakfast food? Personally, I like matching the size of my goody with the size of my drink. Try to pair the flavors of your drink with what you are eating; be sure to pay attention to the afternotes of the drink as well.

I tend to go with denser, drier treats with my espresso (btw, I take with a double risstretto shot, or a v. small Mexican mocha) like a biscotti or scone. Fruit scones or a thick slice of fruit bread (banana, apple, zuchini, etc) tend to do well with me. for the morning.

For a light snack in the evening, I like a robust red wine with lots of fruity undertones. The wine and the coffee tend to accent each other well (thought, I am not sure if it is a good idea to mix a stimulant with a depressant. On well, vodka and red bull does well in bars). Try a cheese/cracker tray/ Many local wine stores also sell cheeses that acompany their wines well.

enjoy!!!
