Instead of some people being thankful that they have a job, they act miserable towards others because of where they work. It's a generalization to make the statement of all people having bad manners who work at Wendy's and McDonald's. I don't believe that all people that work at these places have bad manners. Most are young though and haven't the skills for personal communication with people. If people have bad manners because of their jobs, they do have a choice... find ANOTHER JOB!

I've noticed this also on occasion. I had a friend who used to work at McDonald's. She would tell me most of the time its the customers being rude, in turn putting her in a bad mood and adding her co workers were miserable too because they are not happy with their jobs. Think about it would that be the job you would want to have.

Because they work at McDonald's and Wendy's.

But... I've gotta say the folks at the McD's up the street are poite. The Wendy's across the street from McD's needs to get its act together... they always get the order wrong more oftne than not.

Because unfortunately, they are young. In most cases this is their first job and they have not learned proper customer service or etiquette. Over time, they will either learn by their mistakes and change because they want to be good at servicing patrons or they will not improve because they do not care. Mc Donald's should train more in this area if you ask me.

1. Low pay CAN lead to low service standards as people have little motivation;
2. lack of customer service training; and
3. response to the attitude of customers who generally think that people serving is fast food restaurants are a lower form of life (I have witnessed this many times).

Respect breeds respect.

Peace out

If I had to work in fastfood, I wouldn't be the happiest person in the world. While venting in the form of being rude isn't the best thing in the world, I can't say that I blame them!

because they are mostly people who wish they were at the mall, or they had a fight with someone and haven't matured to the level of "leave it at home"

Or, it's the best job they can get and they hate it but need the money, so they can't quit. But, they don't realize that their surly attitudes keep them from getting promoted or better jobs.

When you work with the public , you get annoyed with their whining all the time.

All that and minimum wage too .

No wonder some have bad manners

My best guess is because they earn no tips and probably are underpaid; so they are not very happy working for such low wages and that is reflected in their lack of interest in serving the customers.
