A few important ones are , wheelchair ramp that leads to the porch , the bathroom can be an easy place to slip and hit your head so rails around toilet and in shower , a shower chair, some sort of emergency communication a cell phone on a little belt that is always in reach. One of the main concerns is falling down or choking on food. A walker is a need also.

pick up rugs, install good lights that are easy to reach and turn on. Remotes ar great.
hand graps in shower and tub, along long halls etc.
call system if living alone
a sunny bright room that is comfortable and contains entertainment, (TV and /or Computer), a safe place to store meds, a adjustable bed, place for a walker, and a phone.
intercom system for front door
special devices that help you raise from a chair ( they are movable)
fixing any area that has the potential to trip, fall or bang into. the pt usually knows where they are.
If you have the money, there are wonderful but pricey tubs that open with a door in them.
if you have a two story, it may be more practical to live on one floor.
