It's very sweet that you want to do this. The answer depends partly on your budget and partly on what kinds of things she likes.

If she is sensual and loves pampering, the day at the spa (or whatever level of pampering you can afford) is a great idea. She can take advantage of it before the baby comes or after- if you offer to babysit.

If she's very sentimental I think a lasting gift like jewelry would be best. Maybe a bracelet engraved with something personal and the birth date of the new baby. Or a necklace with a charm or birthstone for the first baby (and perhaps space for others if you think that's a possibility.

Another nice thing to think about it - if the baby's birth will include an over night stay in the hospital, consider taking her a few meals she really enjoys since hospital food is not the greatest.

So, if she is pregnant now, the baby will be here by Christmas, right? Ok... You can find some cute (and on sale at this date) "Baby's First Christmas" ornaments, and have them over for dinner and present them to them. Or the kind that hold pictures, with "Baby's picture coming [due date]" Or, perhaps find some little onsies or bibs that say "I love grandma" or something along those lines. Really, and baby type item would work, and be pretty cute. I like the ornament idea, but it really depends on the timing. I don't know if you have had an ultrasound yet, but I've heard of people framing those pics and giving them to the grandparents. Then again, that only works if it is a GOOD ultrasound picture. Some of those are a little blurred and hard for those that weren't there when they were taken to figure out.

Something special...of course...ha ha...do not buy her clothes. She will still be depressed about the changes in her body, so that's out of the question. Go with a gift that really says, I'm a new mom...a picture frame or something, and take her first picture with the baby and put it in that frame.

give her a day at the spa with messages facials and manicures along with pedicures. Then have her stay in a hotel sweet and have breakfast delivered in the morning with roses on the try with a card from you. She is about to devote her life to her new family so make these times special for her. and i totally agree with Cyndally and Mishy that is what i said. congratulations and good luck having a child is one of the no the most joyfull things in life.

The newest research shows that your wife could give a very special gift to your new child by breast feeding it. Read about it and give her a good current book on the subject.

that is so sweet, whaetever you do DONT buy her chocolates or clothes or anything like that ,we all tend to add a couple of pounds during pregnancy and it doesnt just drop of when we give birth and we can be quite hormonal so please nothing like that or u will prob end up sleeping in the spare room for a while, lol, somthing for her, treat her make her feel so special let her know you love her and your proud of her,im sure a lovely piece of jewellry would go down nice, and have a bottle of champagne ready to toast the birth of your newborn, and most of all its the little things that really count,so just hold her tell her you love her,be there at the birth and even have a lovely dinner ready for when she comes home ,i hope this helps-good luck, libby x

Well, you can get her a ring with the baby's birth stone or a locket to put a picture of the baby in. Don't forget roses! I dried the 2 dozen my husband gave me when our son was born 13 months ago and I still have them.

Congratulations!

Write her a letter telling her how you feel about her, it will be something that she can keep forever. Also, it is important that you make sure that the two of you get out together (without baby) (it will make you better parents if you take a break every so often) once a week or so, maybe a promissory note for future "dates".

I just had a baby and I think you should give her momma moments. After she has been with the baby all day tell her to go out for a short walk or just come and hold the baby sometimes. She will really appreciate it. Just show her your support at all times.
