How do you deal with cunning? Cunning is defined as being skillful in deception. Deception/trick/lie is arguably the root of all evil, 'Now the snake was the most cunning animal the Lord God had made' (Genesis 3 v1).Cunning, I find is difficult to deal with. It appears to take a lot of thought to uncover the trick. Previously I had disregarded the difficulty of this because of the fact that evil is stupid. However, the definition of stupid, is 'slow to learn', so one can in fact be stupid and cunning.
For example; if some one creates a cunning lie in order to decieve/trick you, what ways are there, first to uncover the lie/trick and then what action should one take? Perhaps one must correct the other person (difficult as they are stupid), or as somewhere in the Bible, I think it says to answer a stupid question with a stupid answer, so should one answer a trick with a trick (an eye for an eye). This latter answer seems wrong to me, but maybe there is some reason behind it.

I think it means FEAR is the root of all evil. At the root of all that is sent against us - we fear the outcome.
The answer is DONT LIVE IN FEAR
Stay positive and confident!
By changing our perception of any challange we face and asking ourselves what is this situation trying to teach my higher self - we can eventually find the answere (the gift) that any challange offers

If you can determine that the intent of the deception was to cause harm or embarrassment, then you can either confront the individual, or you can avoid them. If the intent was not to harm or embarrass, but rather to divert your attention (such as in a surprise party), then don't worry about it, or perhaps congratulate them on being able to pull one over on you.

As far as uncovering the lie, 90% of that is just noticing the inconsistencies. People skilled in the art of deception, are generally good at keeping consistent, they tie up loose ends, and keep other people's noses out of their business. If you run across these types of people, you can choose to steer clear of them if you're worried they might hurt you.

Lastly, If you notice that you seem preoccupied with people who might possibly be deceiving you, and are constantly looking for ways to uncover a lie/trick that might be present, you may be suffering from a psychological disorder called paranoia. You should seek help.

the best approach, and the only one that will work?

Pray about it. dont go to others, and worry and fear, thats all pointless.. go to God, go to the bible, it is the source to all your answers for every situation.

God is bigger than "cunning".... He proved that with Jesus. Read all the promises in your bible about the VICTORY that has ALREADY been won by God.. the devil and his cunning and deciet, has been exposed and destroyed, but u gotta know the one who saved you from it in order to claim the victory.

You have God, now KNOW HIM... seek Him, turn to the bible, open it, get into it, learn your rights in God!

never fear people or the devil, even the cunning ones, you are the righteousness of God, you have the power thru Jesus Christ!

How do i deal? the word and prayer :-)

There are some things you leave to God to deal with. There are some things you dig deeper into his word to deal with. There are some things you except for what they are - evil is never stupid - evil is always a lie and well planned by the father of lies. One who is cunning is so because his evil is lurking to see whom it may devour.

I don't think that evil is necessarily stupid. Sounds to me like you are underestimating your enemy; never a good idea.

I don't wish to sound bitter, but as my friend and I recently decided, 'the world is full of c***s who are just waiting to p*** on your parade'. Watch out.
