Could it be possible that Bible is God word? Does God contradict himself? If his word contains one contradiction, this mean that God is not perfect which lead that God does not deserve to be A God. I say if there is only one contradiction but there is a web site shows 1001 contradictions in your bible go to http://hometown.aol.com/abdulreis/myhomepage/index.html . Logically, this current situation of the bible has two possibilities with no third. Wither the God in the bible is fake God or the bible is not word of God?!. Many Christians answer me when I rose up this concern in a discussion with them “You have to have faith”. I did not get till now. Does Christian mean that you have to have faith before reading the bible? In other words, do you mean that read the bible like who has no brain to think while reading? I believe that bible suppose to lead me to the faith not having the faith before even know what inside it, this does not make sense Christians! On last thing, I noticed that the religious Christians “priest, nun,….etc” when they try to answer questions in the bible that have no answer in the bible itself, they create answers from their minds which has no relation with the bible says. For example, if you ask one of them a question and then you asked the same question to anther one of them, you’ll get different answer and the more people of them you ask, the more different answer you’ll have. When I say a question I mean a question from so many questions bout the bible that cause for Church a headache and problem. Ex, this question” Do you answer a fool?
PRO 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
PRO 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Even though I admire your efforts, the way you have asked the question, will only make the christians feel insulted and become defensive. Only a very openminded one would read your post and seriously think about what you are saying. Good points, though.

All these so called contradictions are not. The example you gave from Proverbs 26:4,5..,
4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Do you lack any kind of intelligence - BOTH statements are true and the irony is True. Its like the saying, "Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. In this case.., If you answer a fool according to his folly you're as bad as he is..., However if you don't answer in rebuttal to this fool's folly, he goes around and gloats in his own illusion of brilliance... VERY MUCH like this exchange with you....

No matter what anyone says, no matter how many so called "contradictions" I or anyone else point out as non-contradictions and explain them.., you still walk around like you're all that and a bag of chips when all you really are is a crumb.

These so called contradictions come about when someone who hasn't a clue attempts to ridicule what he does not understand. While you are smug in your blasphemous ridicule of the Bible - we are confident in the Bible and would trust its assessments over a fool's any day of the week.

It's sad you lack insight - But - Jesus can cure that.., and you'll learn from those so called contradictions and see the logic in them. But until then.., all you will read will be meaningless to you.

......If the same words (in the Proverbs example) were written by, Sir William Shakespeare, you would have no problems with it. Its your blind hatred that keeps you in the dark.

Why do you care what we believe? First of all, the things that are considered contradictions are misunderstood scriptures. The text in Proverbs that you mentioned is not a contradiction. It is telling you how to answer a fool. It is telling you to not answer him by agreeing with him, but answer him by showing him his faults. You have to have an understanding of old english to comprehend it.
So, you have done a poor job at understanding scripture and you want to blame scripture for your lack of knowledge?
Do you call Einstein a moron because you don't understand his theories?

So, why don't you use YOUR brain and stop being so close minded.

The idiots that came up with the 1001 contradictions don't understand scripture any more than the man on the moon.
So, o, intelligent one, tell me; why would you put your faith in someone's understanding that is not an expert on the subject they pretend to know about.

Would you go to a car mechanic when you are sick? No, you would go to a doctor. So, why are you going to non Christians to learn about the bible? Don't you think that the Christians are the one's who should know about the bible and not the scoffers who obviously have a hidden agenda?

The Proverbs quotes you quoted aren't Christian- they are from Judaism, and the word FOOL in the original Hebrew only denotes a person who is morally deficient, and not the lack genius, but there is not an equivalent lexicon for it in the English language an the word fool was adopted by King James' translators. Moreover, to be Christian is to follow Christ, not King Solomon, which means you will need to find actual contradictions in the things Jesus the Christ spoke.
Moreover read the Proverbs in Hebrew, and you will see no discrepancies.

But, then again, why do you care about what you already think is wrong? Why not search for your own truth, being the wise man you seem to claim to be?

The only reason that there are contradictions in the Bible are because they it has been translated so many times and has over the course of centuries. Idiots like you have been trying to put their own meaning into words and putting their own idea on things. Leave the Bible for what it is and that is a way of life for Christians. Have a nice day

There are No contradictions in the Bible. People may read it once and say,"Man, that's FULL of contradictions". In reality, they haven't even studied enough or read enough to even scratch the surface of the Bible. Study, study, study. You will not find any contradictions at all. I am only beginning to get past the surface , but have studied enough to realize that the Bible does not contradict itself and is the word of God.

So many of you get on here and discount Christianity because of YOUR own fear of YOUR salvation. You so want the bible to be wrong to justify your lifestyle and not have to turn from sin and repent. it's your choice, but if you live like there is no God and all his words are bogus, you better be right. Eternity is a long time be wrong. I wish you the best in exploring your faith.

Look Shenmue, scripture cannot be read out of context. If you do, you will miss the point entirely. You have to read things in their historical context and within the theological framework that they were written in. The quotes from Prob. are meant to be opposites. It is a completely common Hebraic technique for teaching wisdom. The verses are meant to be read in tandem and the tension of opposites propels the mind of the reader in a new direction. Such verses are not to be taken as absolutes.

Obviously you are twisting in the wind when it comes to scripture. Let me untwist you. To understand scripture you must be rational and you must think. Read what the Catholic Church wrote about scripture and see if that method cannot unlock your problems.

Turn you at my reproof: behold I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Proverbs 1:23

Unless you are a repented person before God you will never understand the bible.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, o Father, Lord of Heaven and earth because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them unto babes Matthew 11:25
