you know what religion is a totally person thing and what ever anything you decide to do as long as you show appreciation and gratitude toward you higher being preference is acceptable. do you really think that you would be punished for one of gods creations? im sure theres some way to celebrate what is occurring. and besides that isnt it more of a faith situation...whereas if you focus enough energy with the proper components it shouldnt really matter if the moon is available it is still there

Thats a very good question. I dont have any idea how the Sabbath works in the Artic regions or parts of Alaska where there known for having long periods of time with light.

Excellent question!!! The sun doesn't actually set, but it still has a cycle - it travels arround the sky.
But since most people opt for sunday instead of saturday (the sabath) does it matter - even Jesus said that the sabath was created for man, not mat for the sabath - ie it is for us to have a break.

In situations like this they use the times from the closest location that has a sunset. For Alaska they use the times from Seattle.

It has been theorizes that the earth was not tilted at creation so the cycle of days in these areas would be very different than it is now.

i think that you have to check if there's sometime in the day where is easy to see stars and then try to apply it when the first 3 stars became visible, if not you have to consult a rabbi

dont have sabbath for half a year (or however long its light) maybe?
