I have 2 dogs and when I feed them one of my dogs will sit and watch the other one eat all of her food until it is gone and then she will go over to her food dish and just look at her food and she lays next to it. Then she will go back and eat it later. Why does she do this? (Note: She just recently started doing this.)

I don't know but my dog does a similar thing. I think they are just acting weird don't worry my dog's fine and he's done it for a yr. Only intstead of doing that, he will go to his food bowl and dig an invisible pile of dirt in front of his dish and flip the "dirt" with his nose onto the food dish. then he digs on the tile more and does it again. then he sneezes, and then he goes back up stairs. thena an hour later he digs and throws mroe "dirt" and then eats it. dogs are very weird.

It could be that the eating dog is the senior-ranked dog now, and the other feels that she must wait?

We were shown around Dublin Zoo by a volunteer and the elephants did the same - in fact, if the younger elephant tried to eat at the same time as the "boss elephant", she would barge her out of the way to remind her who gets to eats first.

It's similar to the way your family would have your own meal before feeding your dogs. Adult dogs are sensitive to the relative "rankings" of their pack. So long as she does get to eat, I wouldn't worry. It's their way. It could be a problem if the younger dog had pups before the older one though - you should keep them separated if that happens.

I think the one, that eat her food later, is afraid of the other one.
Because they might get into a fight and she is unhappy and don't want to get into a fight anymore.
Or may be if she is sick...

Might have a problem with her teeth - I'd take her to the vet for a checkup.
