I grew up going to church and wondered the same thing myself. Not that it's technically their fault... well, yes it is their fault. I guess it's not allowed to have good rhythm where people actually like listening to it, but rather have a deeper meaning.

Wow, you know I used to think the same thing. I have some Christian CD's from the 90's that are terrible.

An interesting thing that I found is that when I partied, I didn't want to hear any Christian music. Klove radio is outstanding however. It's not damning songs, but positive and encouraging music - this is their motto btw. Go to http://www.klove.com

The Christian sound has changed dramatically as of late. And not just the lighter stuff on klove.

I take you're in Great Britain and I don't know if klove broadcasts there but you can listen online. The variety of Christian music on radio may be limited in the UK as well. Here in the US, there are hard rock Christian bands on radio that are quite good.

I'm a singer/songwriter and used to do covers in bars. Now I write Christian songs exclusively as I never felt my purpose was being fulfilled. This is not judging you, this is explaining me.

I think if you turn the radio dial a bit or surf a tad more, you'll find that today's Christian music is nothing short of outstanding.

Have a nice day. :-)

It's because all they have to do is talk about God and strum a guitar halfway decently, and the music industry snaps them up and gives them a contract. There's no incentive to be a better musician. So blame the recording companies.
Also, in order to be considered "Christian" the lyrics must refer to God, Jesus or salvation more than once; and they may not mention anything to do with everyday life or romantic love, or they'll be boycotted by the conservatives. And the music must have a certain sound. Naturally, serious musicians and lyricists don't like having to put such a cramp in their style, so they go mainstream instead.

Even Creed? Creed is a Christian band as well you know and, while I heartily agree with you on everything else, they do manage to crank out some amazing songs for being a Christian band. Score 1 for the Christies, 3241681230 for everyone else.

This is a matter of personal opinion which you are entitled to.

Perhaps you should offer your tallented services freely so you could do your bit for mankind? Whilst doing so you may just learn a little about personal ego, diplomacy and tollerance.

How can you rock and roll if you're a goodie two shoes?

And since when were Lifehouse and Creed (or that fool Scott Stapp) any good at all?
