October can be tricky. It gets really hot right up until Halloween!
So in the daytime it can get into the high 80s but then at night it can get very cool because the LA/OC area is a desert.
Here's how I dress when I used to go back to school:
Daytime, jeans and tshirt, or short and tshirt. Capris if you're a girl.
Night time find a sweatshirt or light jacket. Change from shorts to pants, and change the sandals to closed toe shoes or tennis shoes.
That's pretty much how it will be in Sept/ October... until a week prior to Halloween, it's a thicker jacket and jeans /sweats.

Expect hot (80s, even low 90s) through about 10/10, then a drop off to the 70s in later Oct

Probably in the 70 or 80s but it could cool of at night, so you might want to bring a sweater for later. We used to do that and keep them all in a locker at the front of the park rather than dragging them around all day.

definitely warm - possibly hot, depending on what you consider hot :) it'll be in the mid to high 80's and relatively still. keep in mind you'll be waking around the park where its mostly open air and uncovered - which can make it feel even hotter. :)
