Does the secular community at large mostly believe a scientific/skeptical worldview, or have they replaced religion with beliefs in UFOs, magnet therapy, auras, psychics, astrology & the like?

Some have turned 'new-agey', but mostly its materialism all the way - with some decent folk on the outside.

People need to put philosophy, logic and reason in place for our children to fill the gap that removing religion has created. This will stop people going into ufo's, auras psychics, astrology, etc or materialism.

Reading your horoscope and the like is done, but just for fun - not out of belief.

But I think that mostly yes, the secular community has a scientific/skeptical worldview. The current generations of teenagers are almost exclusively atheists it would seem.

Not not into any crap...

no belief in gods goblins or santa or astroligy etc...

No 'belief' in UFOs but logially see no reason wy not if they can work out how to travel far... its like saying there should only be humans and life on the Isle of Wright or Coney Island... Chances are there is more life around.

With an ethics system not based on ridgid rules but more on doing the best thing in a given situation best for most.

ie stealing a 12 year olds bowie knife when he goes into school whilst stealing is a good thing. ie confiscating as would be shooting dead someone in a burning car you can't get out to stop them hurting.

Free from dogma we can think.

Plus no messed in the head panicky fear of all things sexual. Sex is treated like anything else. ie as long as you are not hurting others enjoy.

As for new age stuff... Devoid of brain dead dogma.

We ananylise all and see the new age as unlike all other relgions .. nice, kind and friendly and this time its true...

No new age wicken relgious wars, inquistions, stonings etc...

Much of it seems based on psychology and medicine and drugs. That works.

Even if a placebo. Without need to submit to anyone.

They aint hurting others and have positive attiudes to woemn, gays and sexuality and beauty. Their shops are peaceful and tranquil and nice to animals. No macho male dominat aggressive repressive crap.

Plus pysicks may work may not by radio wavs. We have electricity so sixth senses may or may be slightly feisible...

We don't believe we investigate.

Astrology seems more fun not to be taken seriously and probably has more to do with things like is your birthday around a time not near xmas so you got nice pressies so happier then others ...

So the secualr lot think... They don't belienve or have faith they look openly at things and if its nice, safe friendly and may appear to work it gets checked out... that all.

And new agers are like hioppies and sweet and seem to have the right ideas...

I am a British atheist, but I am more of a postmodernist really, and don't totally trust anything, not even science.
But I think that you are on to something in your question; tv shows about the paranormal are much more popular than church; horoscopes are found in every magazine and newspaper; a conspiracy is more exciting than a religion.

In general, most people I know would describe themselves as non-religious, but they would all read their horoscope, whether they 'believe' in it or not.

I think that people want an explanation for the uncertainty of life, but they don't want the constrictions of organized religion, and want to appear independent.

Skeptics (well, sceptics) in my experience. GK Chesterton said that when people stop believing in the christian god they start believing in everything else (paraphrase), which I find slightly arrogant. People who give up the silly mythology they've been indoctrinated with are surely less likely to start believing another one? There are a lot of people who believe in psychics, astrology, all that BS, but (again in my experience) most of them believe in - not necessarily the christian god, but some sort of higher power.
