I read it when I was studying the bible with a Jehovah's Witness. Actually, I read it on my own while studying because I wanted to balance out their push for me to "just believe" with my desire to test facts.

Any opinions on this book by George H. Smith?

Those who are merely intellectually curious are unlikely to embrace the truth about the Almighty.

(Matthew 5:6) “Happy are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, since they will be filled.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

(2 Peter 1:16) No, it was not by following artfully contrived false stories that we acquainted you with the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but it was by having become eyewitnesses of his magnificence.

If you are going to give this book a chance, you must also read The Case for Christ, written by Lee Strobel. He is a former atheist jornalist who went on a mission to disprove the life of Jesus.

The case is still in progress and final outcome has yet to come. Till then you can believe what you have read.
