A cat, yes. Dogs, they can be unpredictable sometimes. You always know what a cat's going to do. They don't get overly excited at things. And though they play, can run around sometimes, they don't go absolutely skitzoid when they see someone at the door or a car drive past. A cat won't pee on your foot because it got to excited. It's much more likely to look at the dog running in circles around your feet; and you yelling at the dog to shut up, from a perch out of the way, and give you a weird look. A cat wants pet, always when it wants it; or in other words, whe you're reading a newspaper or somesuch; but knows when you need someone there, and always sits in your lap then, as well. A cat lets you know when they want a feed; in a gentle way, a presistant mewing and rubbing around the legs. A dog, he sticks his nose in the trash, or eats your shoe, or finds some dirty bone from the lawn.
See, the cat, is the most reliable. And most constant. They always expect to ge what they want, but are so adept at getting their way, you don't even realize you've given in half the time, until afterwards. The cat, is a regal creature, poised, sophisticated, and my choice for most reliable critter.

i wouldn't say completely reliable but yes, atleast better than cats....
they make good pets and are very attentive. It also depends on the breed. Some are sharper than the other. Some are wiser and some are more reliable. :)

what do you mean full faith? like if you fall in a well, will they rescue you, kinda faith? i dont think you can have full faith in anyone except God......... but dogs are very faithfull if you take care of them and love them.
