Wheat is a grain cereal crop. In the midwest where I live the most common wheat planted is winter wheat. This wheat grows over the winter and is harvested in the summer around July. The wheat will be about waist high when it is harvested. It grows green, but is harvested when it turns a golden brown color. The wheat is harvested with a grain header on the combine and is sold by the bushel. You can make straw out of the stalks that remain after the wheat is harvested.
MOst farmers that farm wheat also farm other crops such as soybeans and corn. Most farmers have had family members that are farmers. Most farmers are male though the percentage of female farmers is increasing.
the type of wheat you would use would depend on your climate a good place to look at types of crops would be the Pioneer webiste. They sell seeds to farmers.

Are you serious? Is this really a question? Are you planning to take up WHEAT farming? Pretty tough gig, I'd expect!

If you really want to know about wheat farming, why don't you try looking at the link below....for the Oklahoma Wheat Grower's Association....it should give you some ideas and a place to start.
