Most dogs, and especially smaller dogs should never be left to live outside.

Dogs are, by nature loyal--unless abused.

Why not volunteer at an animal shelter for a while to understand more about dogs, see how much work they can be and how expensive they can be.

Meanwhile, the link I have listed will help you in your search.

I am a new beagle puppy owner myself.
Beagle will not like to live outside (it will cry all night if necessary), won't be loyal if she smells something interesting, will not be easy to train unless food is involved, and because it is independent, and quite friendly to all, will not have an exceptional preferred bond with ownders. Beagles grow to be about 12 kilos, so they aren't small, they are medium. mine is going through the barking/chewing stage at the moment. I think if you want a dog that can live outside, be loyal, easy to train, bond strongly with owners, you are looking for a bigger breed dog like goldren retrievers, or german shephers.

no dog should have to live outside, especially not a beagle.beagles are very social animals and bond strongly to thier families. if left outside, a beagle will howl until you have gone crazy. they are not easy to train since they have an amazing urge to sniff out everything. they do however love affection and are not mean dogs at all, though they can be overwhelming for some people. if you have a lot of time on your hands and get a good trainer,a beagle may be right for you.

I understand what you are looking for, but I personally wouldn't reccommend a beagle to you. I should Know-I have had seven beagles in my lifetime, now down to three!! They are wonderful dogs, but are very hyper. It would be cruel to get a beagle and throw it outdoors, if you don't plan on spending quality time with him/her! Beagles need a good hour of play time with you! at hte LEAST! Whether it be fetch, romping, etc. Beagles need WALKS! about 15-25 minutes, every day. Beagles are social animals, and do not respond well to being chained up. Beagles are also very difficult to train, because they are very strong willed, and have a mind of their own! Very stubborn dogs! Many beagles DIG! only a few of mine dig, but it is a pain in the neck! Beagles are naturally curious, and tend to get into trouble sometimes. Beagles do need attention, but depending on the dog, some will cuddle, others won't. Beagles, depending on health, height, muscle, usually weigh anywhere from 20 to 45 lbs. Average life span 10-15 years. I am not trying to discourage you, I LOVE my dogs, i am just saying that they are NOT low matinence dogs. They take a lot of time and effort. A dog is a wonderful companion, and a wonderful friend, and I wish you luck on your search to find the right one! Actually, Chihuahua terrier mixes are WONDERFUL! they have around the same height as chihuahua's but arent as scared or jittery as purebreed chi's, and have LOTS of love to share. God bless you!

There are two sizes of Beagle approved by means of the AKC. There may be the thirteen-15" type and the underneath 13" classification. A pocket beagle sounds just like the work of an unscrupulous breeder to make a couple of extra bucks on the reputation of small puppies.

If you plan on getting a dog and keeping it outside then I suggest you not get a dog at all. But if you plan on just putting outside for a couple of hours a day then that is fine.
Remember a dog needs to be walked! Not tied up to a 10 X 10 area. A dog also demands alot of care and attention. If you do not have time to train and be with your dog then I suggest you get a goldfish.

Get ANYTHING but a Beagle. They are hard to train, often run off the first time you try to go out a door, and can be hard to housebreak.
My step-daughter has 2 of them and they are both problem dogs.

beagles are good but u can also get jack russels or mini fox terriors. they are very playful and fun to be with.
also dont necessarliy get a small dog, try a medium dog as they are more fun to play with. how bout cross dogs? eg. labrador x kelpie? that is my dogs breed and he doesn't grow much. hes realli playful, loyal, caring sweet and really really smart.

ps: make sure u take your dog 2 puppy school to socialise because if you don't, they will get aggressive and non-social maybe end up attacking other dogs.

Small dogs and outside do not mix. All dogs want to be a part of your family not just left in the yard. Small dogs are especially like this. Get a statue of a dog if you just want to leave it in the yard!

Hounds bark. Don't get a dog to live outside. Look into something that doesn't shed. Like my Portuguese Water Dog and my Yorkie. Both great and no hair on the floor. Or, anything else. No outside dogs, please. It's not fair to them or your neighbors. Be responsible.
