The guy that i live with...the father of my children...(long story) anyway..I asked him to buy 4 pillows from kmart, ones on special if he could find them otherwise just regular ones which cost about $25 aud each. When he came home he had brought 4 pillows costing $69 each???? that almost $280 for 4 pillows. Does that seem crazy to anyone other than me? and take into consideration we have a mortgage, two kids, a house that needs painting etc etc...lots of bills! It worried me. Remember that i have given you australian dollars... a lot more in usd.

Well it seems you took into account all the needs , he took into account you & the kids were in need and he provided a task that you sent him to do . He expected you to understand the best pillows and what he felt about the family . Heart bigger than the pay check .Good thought but not good managerment .Explain with a hug .Take them bak and buy affordable pillows .Next time shop together .

I dont think so...the thing with pillows...well are you going to use them or are they just on the bed for looks....if they are there just for the looks then the cheap ones would be great...just slap a cover over them and no one knows they are cheap....however...if they are going to be used then the more expensive the better...i spent over 100 us dollars on each of the pillows we sleep on...and yes i am a guy and i budget our spending...but when it comes to pillows you are going to be using....if you go cheap you will be replacing them each year....if you get the better ones you might not have to replace them but every 5 to 7 years....so although they are more expensive in the beginning....they pay off in the long run...i think he made the right choice if they are going to be used on a regular basis....

K mart will take anything back.
Like most guys he probably did not listen to you he heard
buy pillows kmart now.
So he did, the first ones he saw because he was in a hurry.
Take them back, No harm and leave the poor guy alone.

Never send a guy into a store to buy pillows.
1. Men know as much about pillows as they do about being pregnant.
2. Men don't shop....they BUY.

Women tend to watch the family budget.
While the men sometimes won't make do with second best for their family.
Aye...It's a dilemma, modern relationships.
I hope you've learnt a lesson from all this?
You've started global conflict with 4 pillows.
Never send a man to do a woman's job.
Apart from that how is your day?

Is it odd that you would expect him to follow instructions? Yes.
Is it odd that he did not look at the cash register or hear the cashier give him a total cost that should have registered in his brain as being too much? No.
Edited to add: Bill Cosby said in a comedy routine that men purpose do those things so women stop asking them to do things. ;-)

I think it is normal. He may have thought that if he buys the better quality that it would be healthier and last longer. Next time just do the shopping yourself. If you want the job done your way then you do it. Some husbands would not even go do shopping so be thankful.

Men are not retarded, all you have to do is take them back and get the ones you wanted and take him with you and show him.Maybe he just wanted to buy the expensive ones to show you how much he loves you by going to get them for you.Appreciate the fact that he did go out and get them.

WOW! It sounds to me like he doesn't want to do any shopping, and is inadvertently giving you a reason to not let him! Good strategy, not sure it was the best idea he's ever had!
Very odd indeed. Good luck with this one.
