to protect the ends of your feet, shields. hasn't it ever happened to you where something heavy fell on the tips of your feet, what would it have been if there werent any nails to shield it?? ouch!

I would think probably protection? Like an animal kicking its hooves. Or a cat with its hind feet kicking to free it self from a dangerous situation. Some toenails are used for digging. People's toes are probably not going to be so prevalent in future generations.

Sensitivity,and tools for the feet such as protection.surface sensing,basically havnt out grown them yet.

so that when someone accidentally steps on you, yoru toes wont explode to do the pressuer of u standing.. and them squishing.. its armor for ur toes..
