If everybody spent 1/2 the time, that those people spend on trying to disprove Jesus, on applying his teachings to their life (work, home, school, all aspects of your life) the world would be such a wonderful place to live. You don't even have to believe he exists to do that!!

As a Christian I can tell you that those who want to be so very vocal against the gift of Christ are doing so because they are sick and tired of some of our more vocal believers being so insistent on trying to make them believe something that they don't want to believe in.You either accept Christ or you don't.

But when Bible thumpers run around trying to enforce their beliefs in everything and force their views on everyone then you are going to have people who will fight back and demand you to not only stop but try and give something more then your little book to prove that you're anything more then another nut who got deceived by a magical cult of stories.

You see?I actually understand their position.

Why do people spend so much time trying to prove Jesus exists. I mean, look all around you, you have church's on every street corner whose worth totals more than many houses. You've got teleevangelists. You've got missionaries world-wide. This is a Christian (or religious) world. It's run by people who believe in God for crying out loud! People spend time trying to disprove Jesus so that the rest of us who know the truth don't get swallowed up in all the lies.

Actually, the world would be a far better place if people did not keep promoting the Jesus myth.

Must be nice to be so arrogant and conceited you truly believe a group of hateful bigots and hypocrites are "good people."

The public face of Christianity resembles the Taliban more than anything else.

Jesus talks about hell more than anywhere else in the Bible. Even though everyone loves his teachings about love and joy, his teachings of an eternal punishment hits them at the very core of their conscience so, since they refuse to accept Him as Savior, they feel a need to "disprove" him hoping it will alleviate what's eating away at them inside.

People try to disprove Jesus because religious folks try to use Jesus as some sort of weapon against people who aren't religious. By disproving Jesus, the non-religious are "un-arming" the religious people.

I agree with you that mankind do not need to believe in God to be good, and make the world a better place.
But i believe that we need God for the soul, which is spirit , to live in peace now, and hereafter. I personally believe there is so much strife , contradiction and thousands of religions and beliefs because we mix the spiritual and the physical worlds.
After all, it is clear that God is a spirit, and spirits , like attitudes, need bodies to work through.

there is more effort spent trying to prove the stories of Jesus than trying to disprove them - think about how much time is consumed trying to convert people to their religious views.

most wars are about differences in religion as much as anything else - half as much war would certainly be a good thing, no?

The same reason why you disprove other religions. Too many religions out there, each one teaches that the other is wrong to protect its own interest. This will go on and on until everyone dies.

Maybe because some of those who believe in Jesus are begining to belive that their relgion is superior to others.
