Now, it could be for a number of reasons. The darkening of the skin could be a precursor of diabetes. So it would be wise to get that checked out.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but is your friend slightly obese? If so, the skin darkening on the inner thighs and underarm areas could be from the appendages rubbing together with normal activities such as walking, reaching for objects etc.
This can be resolved by losing weight and using cocoa butter. When the friction is resolved, so will the dark spots.

Sounds like someone may have played a prank on your friend whilst she slept. Indelible black marker takes days to come out and won't come off by simple washing with soap and water. If you use a body scrub for a couple days, it may hasten the process. Give it a couple days and see if the marks lighten up. If they don't, tell your friend to get to a doctor.

i would not say that it is skin cancer but it is a symptom ofg skin cancer your friend should contact a skin specialist as soon as possible............she should go through some skin tests....she should be intouch with her doctor ........... her doctor is the only solution for her........and the tests and medicines are the best solutions for her too (if recommended from the doctor) please do not do to your skin yourself ..... do as your doctor says..............dont listen to anyone , only listen to your doctor.
hope she gets better soon.
