Yes is does work.I had a dog that had mange and I put used motor oil on it and it went away. You have to put the oil on the dog and wait about an hour then wash the oil off.Do this for a couple of days, keep the dog where it won't run all over the yard trying to wipe the oil off.You know how a dog gets when it's fur gets wet.

No, dont put motor oil on your pet. Their is 3 different types of mange. Mange is caused by a microscopic organism that gets into the skin. One is fairly easy to treat, the other is not. It can get so bad to be life threatening. Please take your pet to the vet asap or give it up to someone who can care for it. Good luck. Here is a web site on mange. http://www.canismajor.com/dog/mange1.html

OMG... DO NOT USE MOTOR OIL ON THE DOG... this has ingredients in it that is TOXIC to the dog! And can be considered animal cruelty. CONTACT THE VET AND FIND OUT if they have a salve or ointment that you can put on the dog or get the very shampoo they are using for the mange. Something that will accelerate the healing.

you have to mix the burnt motor oil with sulfate and drench the dog with it. let it stay on him/her for at least 3 days and wash your dog down, and keep checking to see if the mange is leaving your dog, keep reapplying the mixture until the mange is gone.
the do must stay out side all the time, until the mange is cleared up.
we did this to one of our dogs, back in the 70's and it worked for us.

burnt motor oil can poision your dog so you don't want to use that. u need to go to your vet to have a skin scraping done to see what type of mange it is. if it's demodex then they will either give u ivermectin or amitraz(mitaban dip). to treat it. If it's sarcoptic mange something as simple as revolution can get rid of it. It is important to know that after being treated demodex can come back in times of stress, and if your dog is not fixed it is more likely to re-appear.

No -PLEASE don't do that! I have a beautiful red buff cocker spaniel I just adopted from a rescue organization who had motor oil put on him for mange. He got blood poisoning and is blind in one eye from the oil being absorbed into his skin and also attempting to lick himself clean. There was nothing wrong with this lovely dog before this happened.

NO! In fact the dog will try to lick itself clean and could very well die. You can get a shampoo for mange at the vet. It's not expensive and it's easy to use.

no. it may be a temporary solution, but if you dont get rid of the mites right away and completly they come back, and they come back with avengance. it will be ten times harder to get rid of them if something isn't done NOW. call the vet anask him for ivermectin. this is usually the last resort, but given at the right dosage, it does the trick.
