It would take major genetic changes for our species to evolve into a species that was not human. You might want to take note that the term "human" does not just apply to us (Homo sapiens) but also our ancestors back several million years such as Homo erectus and some side branches like the Neanderthals. Everything back to Australopithecus was human even though we evolved through several different species before we got to where we are today. Also, evolution and natural selection do not have some set goal. If a genetic change in a species helps it survive, that change is more likely to be passed on.
So the best answer for your question is the same as the answer to the question "what genetic changes are happening in humans that will help them survive?"

Good question. If this question does not occur, or answer is not already known, well it is a pitiable thing !
The difference between human being and other beings is the self-awareness. If this awareness is not kept alive (at least), that person naturally gets drifted away from being human(there are many temptations within to induce us to act in an inhuman way! No need to elaborate ... too many examples all around!)
This self-awareness if kept alive, naturally deepens and then very little support from other sources is needed(sources like religious codes, ethics, dictum, social rules, customs, etc). And very surprisingly, a person who maintains this awareness, radiates a special kind of 'aura' around him. He spreads a unique sort of fragrance, which makes him /her being loved by all those around him. As a consequence only helpful actions 'flow' out of him, and he gets to be called 'a good and noble human being'.
