Did spanking help you or hurt you?

it depends...some of the spankings i recieved when i was young i fully understand why i got them, but some were totally uncalled for and when my parents are old and rely on me to take care of them, i will be "honoring thy mother and thy father" by repaying their kindness...tenfold.

It did help me realize that SPANKING has no purpose. It is a form or corporal punishment.

It also make me HATE my parents all the more. To this day I still remember all those spankings. My sister does too.

Best part, my parents got it in the end. One day while he (dad) was attempting to spank my sister, he ended up hitting his hand on the wall. His hand swelled up. For weeks he couldn't use it. Was the LAST time HE ever spanked either one of us!!!

Yes I have spanked my kids. When they were little wearing a diaper. I have to constantly control myself. So I don't become like HIM. An abuser!!!

My mother spanked me when I was a child and it didn't hurt me one bit. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it helped me, because I learned at an early age what was acceptable and what wasn't, and if I broke the rules, I was getting spanked. The spankings were then associated with the bad behavior, and if I didn't want to get spanked, then I didn't do what got me in trouble. Too many kids nowadays are spoiled brats because they didn't have a good butt whipping when they were kids. The government has taken away the right of parents to discipline their child as they see fit, because they say spanking is emotionally damaging to the child. I'd like to see the proof of that, the only thing damaged is the kid's pride when they get their butt spanked.

I don't think it helped me in the least, unless you mean did it help me to feel disrespect for my parents?

My parent's spanked me, and slapped me until they realised that I was just going to slap back. The only reason they usually slapped me was out of frustration, and I did not have any respect for that at all!

There are better ways of disciplining your children than spanking, watch the Super Nanny, and she will teach you how to discipline your child without even touching them!

I don't know but i do know growing up i swore i would never spank my kids and i do NOT and they listen without getting there butts spanked corners and sent to room that is all you need to teach your kids anyone who says different has no control in there house

yes it helps a lot in children because a child has no way of understanding things in their minds you can tell them if its wrong when you spank them not kill them

it hurt me... but at the same time helped me.when i was a kid, my mom and adad used to spank me every time i did something bad or wong. i thought they hated me then but now i actually see why they did it. it helped me become less stubborn and all that...
