Yes, why should I have to learn their language or spend my tax dollars on signs for them to read when they lie and claim they have 8 kids so they can little to no taxes? On top of that they go to the free clinics and county hospitals which are tax based. They soak up services but pay nothing. We are better of without them.

I don't mind them being here if they want to contribute. But we have enough freeloaders as it is, we don't need more crossing the border everyday.

Yes, they should. When we go to other countries, it is common sense that we learn their language. There are many reasons why immigrants need to learn English.

First and foremost, we are spending billions of dollars putting immigrant children in schools and special classrooms because they can't speak English, and it's not fair for our country to foot the bill for something that we aren't responsible for.

Secondly, immigrants are coming to the USA to live, therefore, they must live by our rules, not theirs. If they don't want to speak English and they don't like our rules, then they shouldn't come here.

My feeling is 'yes'. Although there should be some tolerance and respect for other cultures and languages on our soil, at the same time the language of business and official business is english. It's been that way for decades, it's an expensive waste and an improper stance on the immigration issue to run around changing it. Stop the catering, and start upholding better standards instead...

Immigrants should definitely learn English. A few years ago, a Hispanic moved into my small apartment building. Her kids started a fire in my back hallway. Unfortunately, the landlord didn't have smoke detectors installed. The Hispanic woman came out screaming in Spanish but no one could understand what she was saying. Eventually I smelled the smoke and saw the fire and we were able to get out of the building in time. But it could have been a lot worse just because she couldn't speak English.

They need to learn a Native American language, like Navaho, then they could claim to be Natives who speak spanish! hahahaha!
I believe that an immigrant should have at least a basic grasp of the language. If I visited Mexico or Spain, I would sure learn enough spanish to get by.

I don't think that they should HAVE to. I do think that they should (my great grandparents did when they immigrated). The reason that they don't is that we make it too easy for them to get by with not bothering. I am not making comments about any particular group. It is just human nature not to bother to do something unless they have to. If we quit offering things in languages other than English so that they couldn't get by without speaking it, this problem would probably be nonexistant in a few years.

Certainly.
I myself am from Italy and had to learn english since I was in the U.S.A. where people speak english. Therefore I learned english.
I would feel the same way if someone was to move to Italy from the U.S. and would not want to learn Italian (happens often).
Learn the language of the country you are going into.

In most cases, yes. Some immigrants have no plan on staying in the usa, and for those, no. But the ones that do want to stay here, yes of course. How else can they assimulate?

Oh, and they should leave their flags home. America already has a flag.

Without a unifying language, in this case English, one of the most learned and studied languages on the earth, you cannot have a country with common goals; you become fratured, a nation of smaller parts without being whole.

How can you divide a nation like this and be a responsible world leader and example? Colonization is dividing us.

As Abe said, we cannot stand.
