If we can forward the connection to the a cell phone (not a seperate number) it is a simple solution to a big question.

There is such a thing. There's a cordless-celular hybrid that can detect the proximity of it's base station, and automatically switch between the cellular network and the home coredless connection.

but you cannot go too far - if you do, you will have to use the cellular infrastructure again. You cannot go around everywhere and still be able to communicate with your home base station, unless you establish an array of transmission towers to relay over the distance.

I have VoIP since 10/05, and I love it. U can do so much with it...I sign on the computer website and click "simultaneous ring" so when someone calls my house, the cell also rings..I think that cool, U don't have to give your cellphone number to no one anymore...also I have a Blue-tooth flip phone..its connected to my computer...I also can go to take the dog for a walk in the neighborhood and won't miss a call...

they can do this all ready BT has a phone that works as a mobile when you are out and when you come home it works as a land line i cant remember what its called you should go to bt .com and have a look

my mobile phone and landline phone has same number and acces codes.... what a big deal??? ask your service provider do they offer you this service
