I have a four year old boy who has a stubborn streak. He persists at finding a way out of the house when I am doing chores or dealing with my other two (younger) sons. We have so many locks on the doors now that I feel like it is a fire hazard. We have tried everything to dissuade his behavior and he still tries to get out every chance he gets. any suggestions?

We have chain locks at the top and everything... Hes figured out how to use keys for keyed locks and also how to pull something to stand on so he can reach the top of the door. Thank you for your suggestions. We also bought keyed window locks and threw away the keys.

and I thought my kid was the only Houdini!!!
Just keep a good eye on him. I had that problem too with my son when he was 4. Hes 5 now & we have an alarm for our house & a door chime for all the doors & can hear the chime when the door is opened...however it can be a problem if your son likes to get out of the windows.
If its too quiet in your house, the kid is up to something (learned that at a very early age). He'll grow out of it eventually.

OMG, that would be so frustrating, yet scary as well. Maybe locks he cant reach, and window locks too? Check out some local hardware stores and tell them whats going on, they might be able to help you. Good luck!

Chin locks attached to the top of the door and the ceiling? Surely he can't reach that high??!
