Lots do. Heaps of women might get won over by the confident guy, or be flattered by the attention from a guy who seems really self-assured. But when it comes to the crunch, us girls love modesty, and would prefer a guy who takes a little longer to play his cards. Shy guys seem to be more genuine from my experience, and providing you are confident enough to hold a conversation and show her love, affection or make her laugh as you get to know her, then shy-guys are way up there in my books! If you cant talk at all, or run away when faced with the opportunity to talk to a girl...then you might need to work on your confidence a bit!

Girls do like the "shy guy". My 1st BF was what seemed to be a "shy guy" Turns out he wasn't so shy after all. He discovered pretty early that girls went for the guy who seemed nice and quiet in a group. So he played that part to perfection. So girls watch out, don't take the "shy guy" at face value.

I don't know about women, but I know as a man who loves "male contact" I adore the shy guy.
His soft mushy face feels really good on my fist.
That is not some kind of perverted double entendre. I mean my actual fist driving through his mousy little eyes.
